Mute annoyingly noisy email threads
On whatsapp or any messaging app what most of us do is muting the groups that annoy the most. And similarly, there are some email threads annoy us so what can we do about that, thankful gmail offers us the same feature just in a different way. Let’s check out how to do it.
To mute the thread first Open the conversation you want to mute, and now head to menu by clicking on the triple-dot button at the top and hit Mute. now the conversation will be moved to your archive and will be muted. And the thing to remember that it will always live there. So if you want to check it again you can do this by opening all mails tab.
Send and archive for the win
So if you also have cluttered inbox like i used to have here is the trick. You can always add some second send option for all replies and email forwards that archives the conversation with your reply or forward. And you don’t have to worry about if you miss something, the email will again be in inbox if someone replies so you won’t be missing anything. So how to do it. To do so first go to setting and then general, here head to send & Archive. Now select show & archive button in reply and save the changes. From now onward you will find a send and archive button near the reguler send button.
Set undo send to 30 seconds
Many time we send some email we just don’t wanna so send right now, maybe you have missed something to add before sending anything, reason may be anything but always we hope if we can undo this. So let me tell you that Gmail let you do this, so you can also enable this feature by doing this.
Head to Settings and then General and so Undo, select the maximum time limit of 30 seconds and then just save the changes. Now when you send any email. You will be see a pop up saying email has been sent and the undo button next to it.
Hiding in plain sight: Advanced search
So who built Gmail, the world largest search engine. So it is obvious that gmail is also powered by some powerful search functionality in it. To search in a powerful way just click on the down arrow next to search bar it will open emails advanced search panel here you will check a lot of advanced search options.
Preview pane for an Outlook-like look
So you have a big monitor and just looking at a single email at a time and leaving the inbox is not the thing i would suggest you to do. So what you can do is preview the email in preview in preview pan. It is not a feature Google offers you by default.so to enable it just follow these simple steps.
Fisr head to setting and then advanced, here click enable for preview pane and save the changes, none in inbox you will find a toggle which let you choose split screen horizontally or vertically.
Choose your tabs
Gmail has an amazing feature, it filters out emails by type. Like you will get social email and update in separate tabs. But if you want to customize it according to you, you have to first head to setting and then inbox and so go to categories and here you can customize the categories you as you wish.
Email large attachments via Google Drive
So Google only allow you to send attachments which are less than 25 mb in size. But it’s not always the case that you only want to send less than 25 mbs so how you can send files larger than 25 mbs.There’s a little Drive icon at the bottom of Gmail’s compose window. It lets you attach files you have stored in Drive or simply send a link. So just upload the file on drive and share it.
