The wait is over! Rift Core 2.0 beta is beginning to roll out to all users on the Public Test Channel now. For more on what you can expect and what’s ahead, check out today’s blog post from Oculus Head of Rift Nate Mitchell.
It features three main components, an overhauled Home interface, a redesigned Oculus desktop app and Dash.
Dash is a new interactive panel that lets you interact with different features and applications on your Rift. The Oculus Desktop lets you access your Windows desktop and applications and move them around in a virtual space, Minority Report style. A dock at the bottom lets you access functions and settings of your Rift.
They also mentioned – For developers interested in adding Dash support to their apps, we recently made initial API changes available. We’ll share more information and docs next week.
