WhatsApp starts labelling forwarded messages, feature live on Android beta v2.18.179

WhatsApp starts labelling forwarded messages

WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.18.179 has been updated with a new feature that labels forwarded messages. It is currently available for WhatsApp beta testers on Android with a wider availability expected soon. The Forwarded messages features essentially labels the messages that the users forwards as ‘Forwarded’. It works for text and media, which includes photos and videos.

WhatsApp ‘Forwarded label’ was first spotted in March this year by WABetaInfo for Android beta version 2.18.67. To see the newly added ‘Forwarded’ label, you just need to select and forward one of the messages available within another WhatsApp chat. The label will appear right on top of the forwarded message. Notably, there isn’t any option to disable the label. This means that you won’t be able to remove the label from the messages you forward to your contacts.
